ACA closed two cases of alleged conflict of interest

Prishtina, 18 January 2012 – Anti Corruption Agency has closed two cases of alleged conflict of interest against two senior public officials in Kosovo, Blerim Kuçi, Mayor of Suhareka and Fitim Shala, Board Member of the Civil Aviation Authority of Kosovo.

In regard to the case of Mr. Kuçi, this was proved by the official information received at the Agency from Kosovo Business Registration Agency. Thus, based on this information the exercise of the function of the Mayor of the Municipality and ownership in the private business do not represent a conflict of interest. This is based on the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in Exercising Public Function.

Whereas, in regard of the case of Mr. Fitim Shala, the Agency made ​​a decision to close his case on a potential conflict of interest since he on the date of 13.12. 2011 brought the official document from the Kosovo Business Registration Agency proving closing of his private business “Ekspertiza Favan”.
